Pastor Suellen Bahleda has been a Lutheran all her life, beginning with her baptism when she was almost three weeks old at St. John Lutheran Church in Schwer, Illinois. She’s lived in many places, including Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, California, Michigan, Iowa, and Alaska, where she has had the joy of experiencing the variety, the flavors, the possibilities of worship within the Lutheran tradition. She has a BA in Theatre and Communication Arts, a M.Ed in Adult Education, and a M.Div (Master of Divinity). Her first career was as an American Sign Language interpreter and instructor, with a specialization in performing arts. She was ordained in 2008, and served a congregation in Alaska for nine years before coming to Gethsemane. Her family includes her husband Bill, and their son Michael.
