Pastor Suellen Bahleda joined Gethsemane Lutheran Church on September 1, 2016.
She has been a Lutheran her whole life…the abiding welcome, the patterns of liturgy and hymnody, and the wit and wisdom of Martin Luther were present wherever she went, from her Illinois beginnings through moves to Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Michigan , California, Utah, Alaska, Iowa, Kansas and now Oregon…”home” has always been church.
Pastor Suellen has a BA in Theatre and Communication Arts, a M.ED in Adult Education, and an M. DIV, Master of Divinity from Wartburg Theological Seminary.
She is married to Bill and mother to Michael. She loves to read. Her favorite place in the world is Rome, Italy. She is a life-long Cubs fan and is so very very happy they are World Series champions!
This is Pastor Suellen’s personal ministry statement: ” I am called to preach and teach God’s gospel and surprise, manifested in Christ Jesus, inspired by the Holy Spirit. This gives me pause, gives me goosebumps, calls me to be better than I am, impels me to study and question, to speak, and to be silent, among God’s people.”
