Greetings! I hope you have all been enjoying your summer: it’s hard to believe there are less than two weeks left! Here are some reminders of what we have coming up for Youth and Families at GLC in the next several weeks…
This Sunday, Aug. 27th:
Blessing of Backpacks: Bring your backpacks to either worship service for blessings on the coming school year!
Church Picnic: Noon in the Garden. Bring a potluck dish to share. Hotdogs and beverages will be provided. There will be games, including a slip and slide, so be prepared if you plan to get wet!
Saturday, Sept. 9th:
“God’s Work. Our Hands.” Service Day: Sign ups for service projects are available in the Narthex. We will meet at 9AM at Centennial High School for a Commissioning and rendezvous with your project point person. Projects begin at 10AM and will last until supplies run out or 2PM. Childcare for children under 5 years old will be provided in the Nursery at Gethsemane from 8:30AM–3PM. There are childcare release forms on the CYFM table in the Narthex. If you have any questions about this day, please let Brandee know: email@example.com
Sunday, Sept. 10th:
“God’s Work. Our Hands.” Joint Worship Service: We will have joint worship with Pilgrim, Resurrection, St. Timothy, and Trinity Lutheran Churches at Centennial High School in their Performing Arts Center at 10:30AM. There will be a potluck Fellowship in the High School Cafeteria following Worship: bring a picnic-style dish to share. This is the ONLY Worship Service that Sunday. The Cafeteria will be open at 9:30 to accept your potluck dish. Refrigeration is available, but no heating. The Youth travelling to Houston next summer for the Gathering will be selling Italian sodas during Fellowship for $2. Bring some cash to support our Youth!
Youth Gathering Folks: This will be our first fundraising opportunity. Plan to arrive at the High School at 9:30 AM to help people with their potluck food and go over the process for selling the Italian Sodas. There will be a shift sign-up sheet in the Narthex for you to sign up for a time slot to work at the table. Remember: Participating in the Fundraisers is a requirement for the Gathering. Contact Brandee ASAP if you have a scheduling conflict: firstname.lastname@example.org
Sunday, Sept. 17th:
Sunday School Kick-Off: Join us at 9:30 in the Community Hall for games, a brief lesson and craft and a special treat to celebrate the start of our new Sunday School Year!
Preschool Oktoberfest: Join us after 10:30 worship to support the preschool! Details on Oktoberfest can be found in the Olive Press or on the Preschool page on this website.
Youth Gathering Meeting, 5PM @ Gethsemane: Youth and parents of Youth who are planning to travel to the Youth Gathering in Houston this summer are asked to attend this first group planning meeting. **We are looking for a male chaperone for the trip. Please contact Brandee ASAP if you are interested: email@example.com**
