Gethsemane Lutheran Church council president is responsible for ensuring the council as a whole is functioning, continuing God’s work in this world, and working toward sustaining a relationship with the community at large.

VICE PRESIDENT
The Gethsemane Lutheran Church council Vice President maintains a “special committee”. Each VP creates their own special committee. This committee may be geared toward an imminent need or a special interest of the Vice President.

The Gethsemane Lutheran Church council treasurer is responsible for overseeing the church’s finances. The treasurer is also responsible for ensuring each committee, and fundraising efforts, are within the congregation’s budget.

The Gethsemane Lutheran Church properties committee maintain the church property including, but not limited to, the building, the grounds, and the neighboring streets. Property committee chair maintains relationship with city officials regarding roads and parks.

The Lutheran Liaison committee chair for Gethsemane Lutheran council commits to connecting the Lutheran church to the community at large. This position maintains a relationship with ecumenical resources for our neighbors. These resources include, but are not limited to Human Solutions, Compassion Connect, SnowCap and more.

EVANGELISM
Evangelism is the work of spreading the Good News! The Evangelism Committee at Gethsemane Lutheran Church includes working to bring people in the community together to share good news with dinners, ride shares, happy hours, and more! “Rachel’s List” connects those that do, with those that need!

CHILD YOUTH AND FAMILY FAITH FORMATION
The CYFF Committee chair connects the Child, Youth and Family Ministry Coordinator position at Gethsemane Lutheran Church to church council. This committee meets with staff and plays a crucial part in planning, playing, proofing, and presenting faith in fun, intentional and faithful ways for families and children of all ages.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Community outreach, or community action, has become vital in the work of Gethsemane Lutheran and the church. Community outreach committee members assist in the coordinating of Gethsemane’s response to community-wide emergencies, both large and small scale.

Sharon comes to the Gethsemane Lutheran Stewardship Chair with years of experience working for the ELCA churchwide offices. We are excited to have her a part of our council team!

Fellowship opportunities at Gethsemane Lutheran include Easter breakfast, the Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser meal, Shrove Tuesday pancakes and a variety of other fun meals and gatherings provided by the Fellowship Committee.

The Worship and Music Committee and Gethsemane Lutheran Church is responsible for coordinating the many moving parts and pieces of intentional worship that go into each Sunday service. From the banners that adorn the alter, to the hymns we sing aloud – worship and music assists in these places.

We have a short-term special committee for establishing the requirements necessary for re-0pening. This group meets as needed, and has been working hard, fast, and in-depth to ensure Gethsemane is meeting all COVID guidelines; CDC, OHA, synod and otherwise.
