Music Ministry

There are plenty of music opportunities here at Gethsemane Lutheran Church!

The Gethsemane Chancel Choir is a volunteer adult choir that participates in and leads worship each Sunday from September to May. The choir believes its purpose is to support meaningful spiritual connections in the Word and evoke emotional responses of faith through its music.

The Gethsemane Bell Choir is a 3-octave,10-member handbell ensemble that leads worship during the choir season. The Bells are dedicated to providing musical meditation that inspires participation in worship from the congregation.

In addition to our choirs, we enjoy music from solo voices, guitar, a flute ensemble (see: Selah), brass trios and quartets, among others in worship.

Please come hear what music at Gethsemane is all about!

If you are interested in joining our music ministry, contact Director Ben Schumacher at choir@glcportland.org. Ben holds a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Concordia University and studied music performance at Gonzaga University. All are welcome! No audition required.
